Six Flags And Working

Six Flags was pretty awesome.  Kim and I didn't really run into anyone from my job, but we still had a good time.  We managed to make it on all the coasters before the park closed, even with long lines and a late start.  We really got to do a lot more once the park closed down for everyone but Target employees.  Check out the pictures:

We also decided to go to Fright Fest this fall.  Up next is organizing my office and bedroom so that everything is set for my language class.  Tomorrow is the Steampunk Show then I'm heading to Platteville again while I still have time to see Jess and maybe do some thrifty shopping and yummy cooking!

Yay For Random Shopping Excursions, Under Ten Bucks!

The past two days Kim and I have been doing some random shopping trips and registering for classes.  Yesterday was the Trip to Columbus for some antiquing.  While we did not find what we were looking for there (and will be making a trip to three barns full next week) we found several other choice items.  This warehouse complex was even bigger than the last time I was there.  They had added another whole warehouse to the complex and it to was stuffed full of forgotten relics.  In all honesty there is a lot of crap there as well.  Lots of old plates or toys or buttons, but there are also little treasures hidden among the crap.
Tea Pot found after several hours.

Today we went to registar for classes and get books and IDs.  While we were there we decided to stop off at this little Indian place she had been with her boyfriend.  It is called Bombay Sweets and it was pretty amazing.  Kim and I got three meals and two Lassi's and the total for us both was only 17 dollars.  My drink was delicious and the food was great.  The flavors were really different then what I am used to, but in a really good way.  I also really liked that it is an all vegetarian restaurant so I didn't have to worry about what I ordered because none of it had meat!

Lotus Root
Right next door is an Indian food mart and here I went a bit crazy.  I thought I had spent a lot of money only to get to the counter and find out I spent six bucks!  In total I got some frozen Lotus root and Purple yams, a bunch of really great incense, and someI have been looking everywhere for Lotus root for a recipe I found in my Korean cookbook and I had given up hope of ever finding it. They also had a lot of fresh veggies and roots as well, I only opted for the frozen variety because I am not sure when I will be cooking that

Mochi
On the way home we stopped off at the Asian International Market and I picked up some Kimchi, Mochi , and some Rambutan.  All of it ws pretty cheap as well and I could have spent an hour looking at all the stuff they had there but Kim had to get to work.  I did find their frozen insect section, including grasshoppers and giant water beetles, as well as the pickled section which was pretty expansive.  I can't wait to go back there again with recipes in mind and a real ingredient list.

Rambutan Closed and then Peeled.

Plans, Plans, And More Plans!

I want to start off with something to make you laugh.  This is what happens when my puppy is super happy.  He make the creepiest face I have ever seen.  Captions Welcome.

This week is looking to be pretty crazy.  Today I am heading up to Columbus with Kim to the huge antique store there.  It fills three floors in three warehouses and is packed full of old rusty junk and lovely little treasures.  Our main purpose in going there is to find old keys, watches, and other interesting bits to make jewelry out of.  Our second purpose is to go see what new things they have gotten in this year.  She and I make at least two trips a year to this place and we always seem to find one or two perfect things.

Tomorrow we are heading down to UWM to pick up books and IDs and so I can pay my fees and sign up for the Korean Language course there.  I guess that while I wait to be accepted to a school there I can use the time to learn their language and save up money.  I spent awhile yesterday talking to my aunt who went to teach in Australia after she graduated from school.  She told me that it took her almost two years to finally get over there after months of maybes and fall-throughs, and just plain ridiculous stuff.  She also told me not to give up and that it was worth every minute of waiting.

On friday I have to work early on and then I am heading to Six Flags with Kim and the people from work.  They are having a Target Day there and employees and friends pay only $28 with parking included.  We get to wear fun wristbands that say private party and the park will be open three extra hours for us.  The waterpark will also be open about five hours just for Target employees and guests.  I tried to get Dana to come along, but since she is moving the next day, she will be a little busy.

Saturday I want to go back to the Ren Fair for their Steampunk Day but I think I may be a bit burned out by that time.  I also don't think I can really afford it at this point.  Perhaps my day would be better spent pulling the last of the weeds in my garden and replanting the peas and beans and lettuce and radishes for their second round.  I will also take some pictures to show off how wonderful it all looks now that I can finally work outside with being sucked dry.  And I can plant the pots I have for my herbs for winter.  That sounds like a better plan then the Ren Fair.

As you see, a long, fully packed few days ahead.

Ren Fair Madness

I went to the Renaissance fair yesterday for the first time ever. Shocking, I know.  Me, a person who loves all things old and is a self professed anachronism, had never been to the Ren Fair.  Part of the reason for that is probably that I always forgot about it until after it was over, and the other part of it was probably to do with the fact that I am always crazy busy.  But this year, I find that I am far less busy then I have been and I have money I can spend doing things I like.  So, to the Renaissance fair I went.

And I have decided several things after my day there.  One, I want to get a job there and I would be damn good at it.  I can rock those crazy corsets and long skirts all day and my british accent is pretty damn good. I know that it is because my friend from London told me it was.  Two, I should have been going there every year of my entire life because it was amazing.  The joust, mudpit, costumes, shops, food, everything was so cool I think I forgot to blink the entire time I was there.  And three, I need to make more money so that I can buy everything that I wanted there.  Just kidding about the last one, although there was a ton of stuff there I would love to own, I didn't really need any of it.

We also ran into Gypsy Geoff while we were there and spent a good forty minutes enjoying his hilarious performance.  That guy has a way about him that makes it completely okay for him to say all those lovely insults that pop in your head when someone is being dumber then normal.  I wish I could do that. The more times we see him, the more we get crushes on him.  Watching his performance also made Kim and I even more excited for the Steampunk Show in september.

After the fair we  stopped for some pretty decent food at the Lakefront Brewery and then headed back to Kim's for our cars.  When we got there, there was a live band playing in the park a block from Kim's house, so we ambled over there to watch for an hour or so until they finished up there set with a off key rendition of Freebird.

My next few weekends are looking to be pretty awesome as well.  Next up is Six Flags with people from work, and the Following weekend is the dance and carnival.  As for Korea, I still haven't heard anything but I am settling into waiting patiently and enjoying to free time I have and working my butt off to save up cash.  Oh!  That reminds me!  I paid off my credit card completely this week, which felt amazing.  That is one chunk of debt done and I am starting in on the loans from college.  I am thinking of signing up for a Korean language course at UWM for this semester if I can get in before the class closes or starts.  It seems like a good use of time while I wait to hear from Korea.  I may not be going this fall, but I am not going to stop trying.  I already had an offer that wasn't the right timing, so I know I will get another chance.  And by the time I get there I will have a big chunk of my college loans paid and still have a lot of money saved up for spending over there.  I will also have a few more months to loose a little more of the weight I want to.  Now that I am settling into my routine, I am finally starting to get back to working out regularly and I have started to drop again.  I am five pounds from my halfway point.

Epic Day Of Epicness

Yesterday was an awesome time.  Kim and I went to the Milwaukee Public Museum, Discovery World, Nessun Dorma, and Safe House.  We were going to go to Rocky Horror as well but ended up having way to much fun at SafeHouse and wandering the city with Ian.  I could talk about it, but I am just going to overload you with pictures instead, they kinda say it all.

Like I said.  Amazing day.
